Financial remedy cases

If you are trying to arrange the finances after splitting up with your ex, we are able to advise you from the start about what are realistic expectations.  We can then assist you with drafting the necessary forms, and represent you at any hearing.

With lawhow you are in control of your legal costs.  For instance, we are happy to help you complete your Form E, but if you want to save money you can do it yourself.  Similarly you may feel able to represent yourself at an earlier hearing, but want representation at your FDR or final hearing. Alternatively we can give you a stage-by-stage quote of anticipated fees.

We offer a fixed fee initial conference for £200 (inc VAT).  At this conference we will have considered any papers you provide to us in advance, and give you legal advice as to the next steps you should take and, if there is sufficient information available, what you could reasonably expect as an outcome.  We will then follow this up with a short written advice, and a list of the fees we would charge if you wish us to represent you at a hearing. These will be fixed costs, so there will be no unwelcome surprises.

Our fixed fees are as follows:

Financial Dispute Resolution hearing

£350 ex VAT (£420 inc VAT)

*valuation of assets is the total of all assets owned by both parties, including the market value of all property (excluding any mortgages etc), the CETV of any pensions, the value of any savings, insurance policies, endowments etc.

Cases with assets greater than £600,000 or which involve analysis of company accounts or the final hearing of which may last longer than one day are by negotiation with our clerks.  Please contact them here or call 0161 833 6000 to discuss further.

We offer fixed fee representation at a legal services costs application hearing for £550 (inc VAT).  If your ex has significant assets (cash or other saleable assets) and you believe you are unable to fund your own representation, it is now possible to make an application for your ex to provide you with the money to fund your representation.  We will advise you how to make the application, and then represent you at the hearing. (The cost of making the application is not included in our fee).
